A November Remember and Thanksgiving Wishes

Hi, all, this is the Thanksgiving post from my Cheryl Kerr Books Facebook page…which so far has more than 1100 responses, so I’m sharing it here, too.

Because what goes there, starts here, sort of like Walter Cronkite said about the University of Texas at Austin…please feel free to comment or share, also…

Today is Sunday, November 22, the day we lost JFK in Dallas. The weather here is gray and gentle, as though it is remembering, too. I didn’t really know what that day and happening meant until much later. Today, it turns me to writing my short list of things I am grateful for. They aren’t big and exciting, because as I said the other day, simple and home things are where my focus is in these times.

With Thanksgiving in mind, Recipes are something I’m grateful for. I’ve cooked a lot this year and every time I use one I think of where I got it. They bring my people closer and the world not such a big place when I have a bit of them in my kitchen.

The Internet, what would this year have been like if we could not have kept up with events and people through this
Covid-19 scare? I flew home from Washington, DC, the night before the first cases were identified there.

Hope, which to me comes with sunrise, each day a new chance for better news or a change.

Giving, this year I’ve watched people respond to need in such good ways. There is more need, always, but I’m grateful to know the kindness in these efforts.

Family, both with us and gone, is different for many of us. Whoever yours is, love them, reach out, that call or kindness may make a huge difference, to them and to you. The isolation of this year has many folks feeling fragile and alone.

That’s my five items, one for each day from now until Thursday. My list changes often.

Happy Thanksgiving! May yours be blessed and a blessing to someone else.
